VIBRAM RUBBER SOLE

vibram rubber sole in black

Vibram® soles were invented in 1935 by Vitale Bramani after six of his friends tragically passed away on a hiking expedition in the Italian Alps. The boots used at that time typically had felt soles which did a poor job of insulating the hikers’ feet, and provided very little traction or warmth in freezing conditions. He set out to create soles that would save and transform lives, soles that could survive the elements.

The Vibram rubber sole replaces the 4 mm leather outsole with an 8 millimeter Vibram rubber outsole that is stitched to the midsole, so that it can easily be resoled in the future without damaging the upper. The total thickness of a pair of shoes using a Vibram rubber outsole is 10 mm = 0.39 inches
